COKE OVEN DOORS: HISTORICAL METHODS OF EMISSION CONTROL AND EVALUATION OF CURRENT DESIGNS

The achievement of door leakage goals is as much a product of the development of ancillary systems, equipment maintenance and philosophy as it is of the selection of individual hardware. The choice of the oven door design is, however, an important element of the sealing system. The door design should include features of both flexibility and spring tensioning of the door seal, as well as, a vertical gas passageway to vent gas pressure from the sealing surface to the free space above the charge.
