This paper presents results of the simulation of the dynamic response of a Darrieus rotor under turbulent flow with the inclusion of aeroelastic forces. The rotor studied is the Sandia/DOE 34-m test machine located at Bushland, Texas. The paper builds on a previously established procedure for the frequency domain forced response of a rotor subject to turbulent flow and combines it with a previous model for the introduction of aeroelastic forces. Results are presented for the amplitude spectra of stresses at key locations on the blade. The spectra compare results using nominal modal damping in place of aeroelastic forces and also compare the effects of different turbulence intensities. The results suggest that aeroelastic damping plays a major role in attenuating resonances due to stochastic landing.
