The Klingelnberg manufacturing method for spiral bevel gears, the cyclo-palloid method, employs multi-start cutter heads and the teeth produced by continuous generating are of uniform depth over the entire tooth width (Fig. 1). The longitudinal tooth lines represent extended epicycloids. A universal tooling system for minimizing tooling costs and an aimed tooth bearing pattern without lengthy developments are decisive factors in the manufacture of Klingelnberg spiral bevel gears. The uniform tooth depth over the entire tooth width produced by two-part cutter heads is of considerable advantage, because of great shifting ability in the event of tolerance deviations and bending under load, great safety margins against tooth fracture and flank wear and generous tooth bearing modification possibilities, or simple yet aimed tooth bearing alterations.
