The purpose of this work has been the LCA evaluation of three different hydrogen production technologies. In particular, two of them are widely adopted at industrial scale: the Steam Reforming (SR) of biogas and the system composed by Biogas — fuelled IC engine followed by Alkaline Electrolyzer [1]. The third technology is based on Auto Thermal Reforming (ATR) of biogas which permits two simultaneous advantages: a good hydrogen production and the self-sustaining nature of the reaction at moderate temperatures [2], being competitive with the other two process alternatives of SR and Elecrtrolyzer. The ATR concept has been developed inside the BioRobur Project, a forward-looking project that merges the expertise of many European partners and started in May 2013 thanks to funds received from European Commission for the concept depicted in Figure 1.
