摘要

A two dimensional dynamic fracture mechanics program using J-integral concept was developed. Crack propagation problems in thick wall cylinder subjected to thermal shock were analyzed using this program. According to these analyses in the caseof mechanical load the increase in fracture energy prior to crack arrest is usually comparatively small; on the other hand it may be still large under the severe thermal shock condition. This suggests that, under the severe thermal shock condition, asupply of sufficiently large energy is needed at the crack tip in order to maintain crack propagation.The paper also considers dynamic crack propagation and arrest and the associated evaluation procedure for nuclear reactor pressure vessel subjected to hypothetical pressure and thermal transient.
