Renewable Energy from Wind and Solar energy sources being adopted in worldwide. It has advantageous like cheap price alternative to conventional fossil fuel-based generation and also pollution free in nature. The data generated with large volume of information from these renewable energy sources into smart grid, which is to be properly utilized for effective decision making. This huge volume of data handling to be a big data challenge, where conventional tools are not capable and need a proper big data analytics framework. The paper here presents a big data framework for accurate wind energy resource assessment and management using big data tools of Hadoop and Spark architecture and optimization techniques. The use cases of the framework are analyzed by mimicking power utilities business activities. The motive of this work is to have an effective data management to take timely decisions for proper integration and optimization of renewable energy resources integration into the Smart Grid.
