THE OCCURRENCE OF SUBSTANCES RELATED TO MAMMALIAN HORMONES AND NEUROPEPTIDES IN NEURONES OF THE BLOWFLY CALLIPHORA VOMITORIA, IDENTIFIED BY IMMUNOLOGICAL MEANS

The nervous system of Calliphora vomitoria has been studied by means of immunocytochemistry. Perikarya and fibres, immunoreactive to antisera raised against a variety of mammalian biologically active peptides, are widespread within the brain, thoracic ganglion and the corpus cardiacum. Many peptidergic neurones unknown from classical neurosecretory studies have now been identified in this way.
