摘要

The digital transmission system described in this paper was developed to improve the low frequency performance of near-instantaneous companding pulse code modulation (NIPCM) and its transmission efficiency. Irrespective of the transmission-bit number,the same signal-to quantizing noise ratio as that is obtained by the number of quantizing bits can be realized in the lower frequency range.The system requires a smaller bit rate to achieve the same audio quality as NIPCM.The system is a combination of NIPCM and differential pulse code modulation (DPCM).To realize such a combination,bits that are removed and truncated in NIPCM during compression are accumulated. The accumulator suppresses a de level shift and realizes simultaneous transmission of high and low frequency signals.
