The following analysis, based on Bekker's off-the-road locomotion theory, deals with the behaviour of girderized tracks (industrial tracks) and flexible tracks (for military use), it is well known that the girderized track gives the best drawbar pull, while the flexible track allows the maximum operation speed. Experimental data of drawbar pull and track dynamic pattern have been obtained with field tests performed with a military vehicle (flexible tracks); for these trials Mobility Technical Service of Italian Army (S.T.E.M.) gave its contribution. A comparison between experimental data and values obtained with an analytical solution points out the consistence of the matematical model chosen. This is indicative of studies that can be more deeply pursued only with a laboratory work on soil bins.
