Study on rehabilitation of traditional settlements after the Lombok earthquake in 2018, Indonesia Part 1 People’s Adaptation on Disaster Temporary Shelter in Bayan Timur RT-1 Village

Lombok earthquake in 2018 occurred continuously on July29th, August 5th and August 9th in 5.9-6.4 Richter scale. Manyearthquake still occurred after that time. Based on Indonesiangovernment official statistic data, 445,343 people were reportedlost their houses. According to Presidential Instruction Letter No.5 Year 2018, Lombok Recovery Process consisted of three stages:Emergency Stage (July-August 2018), Rehabilitation Stage(September-December 2018) and Reconstruction Stage(September 2018-March 2019). Due to limited resources inreconstruction stage, the progress was expanded from thescheduled time. In August 2019, government housing aidreconstruction project in Bayan Timur-RT 1 Village were stillunder construction and have not been finished yet. Fortunately,community at this village received donation of temporary sheltermaterials from a local NGO: Bumi Tangguh Foundation onNovember 2018. The temporary shelter made of galvanizedaluminum bar for its main structure, zinc aluminum panel for theroof material and bamboo woven for the wall material and wallpartitions.
