In order to safely integrate solar PV in distribution systems, it is necessary to determine the impact of their power injections on the circuit voltages and other constraints. Previous work has established that the voltage magnitude has a quasi-linear relationship with the load and solar PV power injections. Operation of voltage regulation equipment within the feeder causes the bus voltages to be confined within discrete manifolds. This paper leverages the linearity of these discrete manifolds to compute the over-voltage hosting capacity (HC) in an accurate manner, by solving only a small number of nonlinear AC power flows. The accuracy of the proposed method is evaluated on the standard IEEE 123 bus test circuit.
