Evaluating dimmable LED lighting for science and education establishments

摘要

LED luminaires with different types of optical systems, LEDs, drivers and control systems have been designed. The assembled luminaires are generally applicable in educational and scientific buildings. They have been implemented in lecture halls in the Technical University of Sofia aiming achievement of better qualitative, quantitative parameters of the lighting systems and increasing of the energy efficiency. Based on the measurements, it has been established that in "Stand By" regime of the lighting system reactive-capacitive energy is consumed, which reduces its energy efficiency. The paper describes detailed evaluation of the energy parameters of the system and the potential for their optimization.
