Mobile health monitoring has been widely adopted as part of a wearable device in areas such as fitness tracking, hypertension and diabetes monitoring. Consumer healthcare devices differ from medical devices in that they are operated by end users and Premarket approval (PMA) from the U S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is not required for marketing and sales. Without market regulation in the consumer healthcare sector, there is an overall lack of general awareness in user acceptance in wearable health monitors that can have a substantial impact on device sales. As a result, the consumer healthcare industry should thoroughly address user satisfaction requirements in order to improve product design and manufacturing technology in the fast growing consumer health monitoring market sector.
