摘要

We present an efficient method using the Specification andDescription Language (SDL) for designing and implementing real-limeembedded systems. We also discuss the implementation of a companionkernel for an SDL based Design Tool (SDT) CASE tool environment togenerate real-time OS based pSOS multitasking application software byapplying defined mapping translation rules. Since SDL is a formalspecification and description language, with the CASE environment SDTsupport, the major part of a system can be analyzed, simulated,verified, and validated at early stages during system development. Theconcurrency due to the multiple concurrent state machines in a system ispreserved in target run-time environment. Because the SDL describedsystem uses message-passing, a distributed version can be relativelyeasy to derive from. To emphasize the proposed method using SDL withoutdramatically compromising the memory and response time (speed), we showthe results obtained from pSOS implementation of an AccessControlsystem.
