The paper deals with the fuzzy logic control(ler) (FLC)application to the vector controlled AC motor drive. The aspects ofmajor importance in the application to vector controlled AC motor drivesare pointed out and discussed. The rule base can be easily built usingthe general dynamics of the process, and than readily updated to containthe delayed information for reducing the dead-time effects of theprocess. A good performance can be achieved both in transient state andsteady state without using of multi-decision tables. A FLCfield-oriented drive was designed, simulated and experimented in a speedcontrol loop. The results are compared with those obtained on the samedrive with conventional digital PI type speed controller. The paperconcludes the applicability of FLC in AC drives in given condition andsuggest some future perspective
