Calibrating an industrial microwave six-port instrument using theartificial neural network technique

Microwave six-port devices have been gaining popularity in manyindustrial on-line microwave measurement instruments. However, thecalibration of a six-port device remains a difficult task, particularlyif a large dynamic range of the measurement is required. The recentdevelopment of the artificial neural network (ANN) provides a powerfultool for non-linear approximations which can be used to calibrate thesix-port devices. An industrial prototype microwave six-port instrumenthas been calibrated using the ANN technique at CSIRO, which has achievedhigh accuracy over a wide dynamic range
