In this paper, a new control algorithm implemented on a three-phase three-wired shunt active power filler (SAPF) to compensate for harmonics and reactive power generated by unbalanced linearonlinear load is proposed. This algorithm is based on the instantaneous active current component id method, which was previously designed for the three-phase active power filter topology. In that design, the circuit performance was found unsatisfactory under unbalanced load. The proposed algorithm is therefore, motivated in order to solve such problems. Computer simulations results using power system blockset toolbox PSB of Matlab are given, which can confirm the feasibility and the performance of the new method. Improved results are obtained using the proposed control.
