Materials and test methods for qualifying a VPI system for thesmaller service shop

The author considers processes and materials for form wound coilsin which the primary insulation system is based on impregnated mica asthe dielectric. After defining key terms and comparing mica paperproperties, the author examines the properties of the VPI (vacuumpressure impregnation) resin and describes a few simple screening tests.Finally, he presents some recommendations for investigators of new VPIsystem components
