Natural Frequency Measurement of Pipe Vibration for Vortex Flowmeter

To improve the anti-vibration performance and the measurement accuracy of vortex flowmeter, the natural frequency of pipe vibration was investigated. An on-line natural frequency measurement method based on transient excitation was proposed. The response signal was acquired by piezoelectric sensor of vortex flowmeter and the natural frequency was extracted by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The performance of the proposed method was validated by the resonance experiments with the transient excitation and applied at different position with hammers of various materials, which indicated good repeatability and consistency. Finally, the measured values of natural frequency were compared with the results of theoretical calculation and numerical simulation. The results are useful for the improvement of measurement accuracy and anti-vibration ability of the vortex flowmeter.
