Analyzing the Relationship Between Human Brain Structural and Functional Connectivity Using Kuramoto Model

摘要

It is a fundamental problem that relating the structural connectivity(SC) to the corresponding functional connectivity(FC) of human brain. With the goal of understanding the relationship between SC and FC, a number of methods have been proposed, especially methods based on computational models. In this study, we apply a dynamical model based on Kuramoto model to analyze the link between SC and FC. We simulate the FC matrix from only empirical SC matrix based on low-resolution and high-resolution connectivity datasets respectively. Then we examine the time series of neural activities among different brain regions, which reflects more information on the relationship between SC and FC. Moreover, the results of the comparison with DMF model show that the model used in this paper has better performance.
