The hole-gap helical groove slow-wave structure, as an all-metalslow-wave circuit, has advantages of good heat dissipation and largesize, and thus is suitable for use in a MM-wave TWT. By means of anapproximate field theory, the expressions of the dispersion equation ofthe hole-gap helical groove slow-wave structure is obtained in thispaper. The influence of various circuit dimensions on the dispersionrelation is discussed by numerical computation
