A capability for calculating and analyzing postintercept behavior of threat missile debris fragments is described. The capability is achieved by combining methods for calculating fragment mass characteristics and post-intercept trajectory characteristics, installing the resulting code on a graphic workstation, and developing a means to view the trajecotry characteristics on the workstation. The prediction method, contained in computer code DEBRIS, calculates the post-intercept trajectory of up to five missile debris fragments given the geometry and mass characteristics of the overall missile configurations and the breakup locations. Results include the CG path, orientation, and time history of trajectory parameters for all fragments, which can be displayed simultaneously or individually on a graphics workstation. Trajectory parameters include velocities and acclerations in both the fragment and inertial coordinate system, Euler orientation angles, forces and moments in the fragment coordinate system, an dkinetic energy. Selected results for two generic threat missile configurations are provided to illustrate the type of information available from Program DEBRIS.
