In conventional design CAD system, designing the intended curve segment is time-consuming and labor-intensive due tothe nature of the curves. Though there are tools within CAD to help reconstruct curves, their performance has beenreported insufficient. In this paper, we present a method for curve reconstruction that is based on The ExperientialDesign Guidelines to facilitate design work. Firstly, the input curve is subdivided according to the guidelines, thenreconstructed by the curve interpolation technique. Finally, the resulting curve is optimized to fully meet the ExperientialDesign Guidelines. The objective function to be minimized is a weighed combination of two components associated withthe coherence to the original design, and the curvature approximation by second derivative. The importance of the twocomponents is weigh by a user-defined parameter. Numerical examples demonstrated the effectiveness of the method. However, there remains some problems for further improvements.
