In the frame of the Horizon 2020 MAESTRO project, the influence of stainless steel powder (1.4404)characteristics (particle shape, size distribution…) on the properties of parts printed by laser-PBFprocess has been studied. Various powders were printed such as a gas atomized (GA) MIM gradepowder, laser-PBF grade (GA) and a conventional water atomized (WA) grade powder commonlyused for sintering. The laser parameters were fine-tuned for each powder to produce as fully dense aspossible parts, the surface roughness and also tensile properties were investigated. The particlemorphology, dynamic behavior and chemistry of studied powders were characterized in order to definea link between bulk properties of printed parts and powder characteristics.
