Seismic simulation should reproduce the expected seismicenvironment of substation equipment as realistically as possible. Tosimulate the real conditions in the field, the stresses caused by theoperation of the equipment during the seismic activity must beconsidered. The two tests, operation and seismic, can be superposed. Howthe stresses are superposed and how the safety factor should beevaluated are discussed
