A Petri-net representation of the qualitative behaviour of adynamical continuous-time system

In this paper an approach is presented how a qualitative model ofa dynamical continuous-variable system can be set up. The method isbased on Petri nets which have been successfully used so far to describediscrete-event systems. Places will be used to represent qualitativestates whereas transitions model the qualitative state transitions ofthe system. The influence of input variables is reflected by labelingthe transitions with input conditions
