The various demands for future mobile communication systemspresent a set of challenging problems to system designers like powerconsumption, access mechanisms and different data rates. Moreover thesystem has to be flexible enough in order to keep up with the evolvingof standards. This paper discusses a dynamically reconfigurable hardwarearchitecture called DReAM (Dynamically Reconfigurable Architecture forfuture Mobile Communication Systems) whose architecture is tailored forthe third generation of mobile communication systems (3G).
