This paper describes the development of a new control method forpaper finishing machines, by means of which it is possible to reduceroll damage and to carry out the roll transfer movements more rapidlyand accurately than with the methods presented previously. The controlmethod includes winding arms control based on the dynamic model of thepaper winder were developed and tested. Control algorithms specific todegrees of freedom are developed for the motion control of the hydrauliccylinders moving the winding arms. The functioning of the control methodthus developed is verified with testing equipment containing thefunctions of a center winder. The verification involves theimplementation of the control method in the testing equipment, test runsin a cycle corresponding to paper winding and the measurement of theaccuracy of winding arm motion control achieved with this method
