A methodology for the prediction of static charge in a transformerstructure

A number of recent failures involving large forced-oil-cooledpower transformers have been attributed to static electrification. Theauthors present a preliminary model for predicting electrification in arealistic transformer geometry for which experimental data are availableto provide a means of calibration. The static model has been shown togive agreement with measurements for a core-form transformer geometry.The preliminary model has demonstrated that the network methodology isviable for examining the effects of static electrification in arealistic transformer structure
