Solar energy is one of the most immerging sources of energy. Forecasting of electricity from any solar plant is very important due to nature of variability of solar energy on the surface of earth. For this, a new formula has been proposed for calculation of possible electricity generation from a PV plant on a particular day. The proposed formula has been checked by calculation of forecasted electricity from a 50kW grid connected PV plant and compares it with actual plant generated electricity. For this, solar radiation forecasting results from ten different univariate and multivariate models were used. From the results it has been observed that all the models were showing good results, among them random forest model showing best results.
