This paper presents a new concept of mixer-based UWB pulse generator dedicated to WBAN applications. It consists of an envelope generator followed by a double balanced passive mixer with LO leakage cancellation technique. The 0.18µm CMOS process is used for circuit simulation. The system achieves a widely controllable UWB pulse width between 1ns and 9ns with tunable magnitude between 20mV and 200mV. This allows spectral adjustment of the output signal to match the mask specific to the region where this system is used. The circuit operates at a PRF of 10Mbps in the 3-5GHz band and dissipates 2.46mW from 1.8V power supply.
