In this paper, a six-phase asymmetrical induction motor (SPAIM) controls using a newly proposed technique of 48-sector vector space decomposition-based space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) in the MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory) environment. This machine has advantages of powerful segmentation, the reduction in the per phase current, fault-tolerant capability, and reliability, at same time this machine draws a large zero-sequence harmonic current. The unwanted stator currents are reduced to a large extent using this proposed technique. This technique is effortless to implement practically. The MATLAB simulation results, collected from the simulation performed on a 2.2 kW machine model of the SPAIM, are conferred.
