A Dialectical View about the Influence of Leader Personality on Group Performance-Empirical Research on Life Insurance Industry

Starting from the Big Five personality model, which is the most widely used in the personality theory of psychology, this study explored the influence mechanism of group leader personality on group performance through questionnaire survey and field interview of 101 sales groups from 9 life insurance companies. In the model analysis, the striking discovery is the inverted u-shaped relationship between leader personality and group performance. This paper puts forward the importance of dialectical analysis of leader personality, which not only deepens the understanding of the Big Five personality theory, but also has certain practical guiding significance for the recruitment and training of marketing supervisors in the life insurance industry.
