In this paper, a grouped frequency coding strategy is proposed for joint range-angle estimation in monostatic FDA-MIMO radar system. Different from traditional phased array radar, frequency diversity array radar has angle-dependent and range-dependent beampattern. The resulting coupling phenomenon from a single frequency increment of transmitting signal makes it impossible to locate targets accurately. This phenomenon can be avoided by adding other frequency groups with different increments codes. However, the periodic repetition of estimation usually results in false peaks. In order to eliminate false targets and further increase the resolution, the additional searching codes in preorder and screening codes in postorder are designed. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
