Revealing the Unobvious Social Norms and Traditional Development Fantasies that Impede Agile Adoption

If your organization desires the advantages of agile development approaches (e.g., rapid response to changing requirements, increased customer involvement and satisfaction), yet training and coaching have not yet helped, consider investigating what might be keeping the organization stuck. Instead of trying to change people's hearts and minds, it may be wise to begin the agile journey by exploring what resides in their hearts and minds and how it got there. This paper reveals beliefs and habits from which project overseers must disengage in order to become agile. Beliefs and habits that have long been axiomatic to project management and must now be released in order to make the transition to agile. In order to move forward you must first let go, but you can't let go until you know what you are holding on to.
