The 2019 ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference includes one dedicated session on fatigue monitoring issues and related assessment methods covering topics on fatigue monitoring approaches worldwide. There are two papers and one Technical Presentation Only on this topic organized into one technical session. The first contribution is a Technical Presentation Only by A. Mutz et al. on FAST FATIGUE EVALUATION (FFE) UNDER COMPLEX OPERATIONAL LOADING CONDITIONS. The Fast Fatigue Evaluation (FFE) process allows for highly-automated and reliable data processing to evaluate time-dependent cumulative usage factors of mechanical components. The component example to be discussed within the paper is the recuperative heat exchanger (RECU) of the Swiss Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) of Goesgen (KKG). The presentation describes the calculation strategy and proves the applicability of the method on an industrial scale and its potential for systematic fatigue monitoring of sentinel locations and components.
