In this work a one dimensional micro air vehicle model with flexible wings incorporating spatial hysteresis internal damping is analyzed. The control initial value problem is shown to be well-posed and the first order system operator of the linearized system is shown to generate a strongly continuous contraction semigroup. The importance of a theoretical foundation is generally understated in science and this work provides any numerical results from this model with a rigorous foundation. The theoretical analysis of control design for the model in this work provided motivation for and makes use of a recently published inequality that is easy to understand yet was quite non-trivial to prove.
