Very High Cross-Pol Square Patch Antenna: The Dual Mode Solution

摘要

A new wide band square patch antenna having very high cross-pol attenuation, linear and CP, in the full antenna bandwidth is described. The real phenomenon which limits the cross-pol in an unbalanced fed antenna is identified as being an intrinsic dual mode coupling vector. An extremely simple and effective compensation method is described, allowing the complete elimination of the phenomenon which limits the cross-pol without any additional restrictions on scanning, bandwidth, adaptive capability or added loss.
