This study investigates the performance of a semi-active Skyhook controller in attenuating the radiated sound from sandwich structures fully treated with Magnetorheological (MR) fluid core layer. A circular sandwich panel with elastic face sheets and MR fluid core layer is considered. The developed finite element governing equation of motion is solved in time domain using mark's method and the obtained transverse displacement and velocity of the center of the panel are selected as the feedback signal for the controller. A semi-active control strategy based on the semi-active Skyhook controller is designed to restrict the fundamental axisymmetric motion of the clamped circular MR panel which is the main contributor to the panel's radiated sound. The performance of the controller is compared with that of the passive system in both time and frequency domains. It has been shown that the developed semi-active control strategy can attenuate the intensity of the radiated sound using the selected feedback signals.
