A low phase noise 20 GHz microwave frequency divider based on a super-harmonic injection locked optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. By injecting a 20 GHz microwave signal to a 10 GHz free-running OEO loop, a microwave frequency divider with division factor of 2 is obtained. The phase noise and conversion gain of the proposed microwave frequency divider are -130 dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset and 15 dB, respectively. Compared with a commercialized microwave frequency divider, the phase noise performance and conversion gain are improved by 16 dB and 18 dB, respectively.
