A bandgap reference with a novel self-start bias circuit is presented in this paper. The self-start bias circuit uses the principle of negative feedback to achieve soft start-up of the voltage reference. Simulation results obtained in 0.35 μm BCD process demonstrate that the minimum supply voltage can be as low as 1.2V. The generated reference voltage is 1.13V, with a temperature coefficient (TC) of 6.86 ppm/°C for the -55°C to 125°C temperature range. The line sensitivity is 1.014mV/V. The start-up time is 1.15 μs. The circuit occupies an active area of 580×230 μm2.
