Using Accelerometers Enhance Measurement Performance of Hull Deformation

When a space surveying ship is tracking a satellite, the exsitence hull deformation will reduce the tracking accuracy. Therefore, the hull deformation of ship should be measured and compensated. One traditional method is using gyroscope, through angular velocity mathcing equation and Kalman filter, the hull deformation can be estimated. However, when the deformation varies violently, this method cannot tracking the hull deformation efficiently. In order to enhancing the measurement performance, this paper introduces a method in how to use additional accelerometers working together with gyroscopes. In the paper, acceleration matching equation is presented, and a new measurement equation combining acceleration matching equation with angular velocity mathcing equation for Kalman filter is introduced. Through semi-reality data and semi-simulation data, experiments are implemented. Results show that the proposed method can improve the measurement proformance of hull deformation.
