摘要

The main characteristics of electric arc furnaces are considered in the article. The description of the main generations of furnace development is given and their characteristics are given. It is noted that the speed of existing electric furnace control systems is low. Particular attention is paid to the basic methods of regulating the voltage of furnace transformers. From the authors' point of view, it is possible to significantly improve the efficiency of arc furnaces by using a high-speed thyristor voltage regulator. It is noted that this regulator can work in the mode of maintaining the primary current of the transformer at a constant level. The results are obtained on which it is evident that the fluctuations of the reactive power, and consequently the flicker, are substantially reduced.
