A previously developed method of mathematical analysis related to the three phase arc furnace circuit has been updated and simplified. It has been applied to a variety of electric arc furnaces to define the magnitudes of arc voltage, ohmic resistances, reactance, and phase angle under operating conditions. A specific example concerning a 48 MVA ferrochromium furnace is presented. (ERA citation 10:027926)
