Static regulator for electrical distribution network - uses thyristor bridge circuit to control switched transformers for arc furnace

Static regulation circuit providing current limitation in electrical distribution networks, particularly where switching of transformers is used to control arc furnaces. The circuit simplifies switching algorithms and provides protection against load or distribution faults without the use of power consuming resistors. The circuit is based on a four element single phase bridge using thyristors as parallel switches connected across the regulated supply. Ten such thyristors form one arm of the bridge, the remaining two arms consisting of two uncontrolled rectifiers. The diagonal of the bridge is connected to a DC current source in series with a reactance.
