The soil settlement or heave of shield tunnel caused by tunneling excavation is a three dimensional problem. Based on the previous research results, this paper proposed a three dimensional unified equation to calculate the vertical soil displacement induced by ground loss under non-synchronous construction for double-tube shield tunnels. The equation takes into account the lag time of construction and the effect of soil consolidation. Analyzed results showed that the following vertical soil displacement can be obtained simultaneously through the equation: (a) at ground surface and any depth of ground, (b) along transversal and longitudinal direction, (c) under non-synchronous and synchronous construction, and (d) for single-tube tunnel and double-tube tunnels. Meanwhile, the equation can be applied to illustrate the two-dimensional and three-dimensional curves of vertical soil displacement. Compared with the monitoring data of shield tunnel section between Zaoying Station and Dongfeng Beiqiao Station in Beijing Metro Line 14, the rationality and applicability of the proposed equation were verified. The influencing factors and changing tendency of vertical soil displacement for shield tunnel were investigated by adopting the equation.
