This paper proposes an approach for the inclusion of μPMU measurements in a Distribution System State Estimator. For that, the corresponding variances are adequately treated. The State Estimator (SE) adopts the real and imaginary parts of branch currents as state variables. Additionally, it is proposed a mechanism to keep the coefficient matrix constant within the iterative process, improving the computational efficiency of the SE. The estimation errors and convergence of the State Estimator are analyzed taking into account the accuracy and availability of the information obtained from μPMU and conventional monitors as well as their location. Two mechanisms for the initialization of the State Estimator are also discussed. The case studies consider an environment with PV penetration and Monte Carlo simulations.
