A new experimental configuration is designed for large scale Y shapestiffened panels under lateral impact load, which can avoid secondimpact during test and could be conducted in laboratory condition. Thespecimens consist of three Y shape stiffeners with one span in thelongitudinal direction. The permanent deflections of the steel sandwichwere measured by 3D-scan technology. High speed camera isintroduced to obtain the velocity history of pendulum bar. Accelerationsensor is set on the indenter to record its acceleration history, which istransferred as the impact force according to Newton second law. Theimpact force - penetration relationships based on experimental resultare compared to existing analytical method.
