A novel meandered corrugated waveguide low-pass filter along with its associated novel design methodology is presented in this invited paper. The proposed filter uses 90° E-plane mitered bends in rectangular waveguide with different heights and lengths, to resemble the frequency behavior of the classical corrugated low-pass waveguide filter. This new topology allows to dramatically reduce the total length of the structure. The novel design method has been validated through the design of a meandered Chebyshev low-pass filter of order 29, achieving 42% of length reduction in comparison with its classical counterpart.
