摘要

In this paper, we present a three-layered storage system, called MS2(Multi-layered Storage Management System). MS2 integrates the strengths of HDD and PCI-e SSD, in order to provide a large-scale storage and high I/O performance in a cost-effective way. MS2 was designed to take advantage of PCI-e SSD's high I/O performance by distributing data into three different types of storage devices. It can flexibly utilize I/O performance of those different storage types, according to file priority. The performance evaluation demonstrates that achieving better I/O performance is possible as compared to a two-layered hybrid storage system, by combining vast, low-cost HDD space with a small portion of address spaces using multiple types of SSD capacity. Several experiments were conducted to verify the performance of MS2.
